Children and Youth

Kids for Christ (Sunday School)
Children's ministries are provided at both the 8.30am and 10.00am services. A formal Sunday School will be trialled this term commencing Sunday 26 April 2015. See Gavin or Katrina Sherwood for full information..

Youth Group
A group for young teenagers runs fortnightly on a Friday evening. Gavin Sherwood is the contact person.

Small Groups
We have a variety of small Bible Study groups which meet in various homes during the week. Talk to Dale if you would like to join a group, or fill out the Welcome Slip in the Welcome Leaflet when you are at church.

Alpha and other Courses
From time to time we also run Alpha (a Course explaining Christianity), Bible Schools and other courses such as the Marriage Course, and the Boundaries Course.
If you would like to be part of one of these groups or courses please speak to Dale Appleby, the Rector.

Name Tags
We provide name tags for everyone who has filled in the Welcome Form. We encourage people to wear these to make communication and welcoming easier.

Baptism and Confirmation
Both children and adults can be baptized and confirmed at Christ the King. We usually take some time to help people prepare for these major events. Please speak to the Rector after church one day if you are interested.

Marriages are celebrated at Christ the King for those who desire Christian marriage. Please speak to the Rector if you would like to know more.

Healing and Counselling Ministries
At Willetton a Healing Ministry Team is available after church to pray for people who would like simple prayers for healing.

The Rector is available to talk and pray about any matter.

At Christ the King, we contribute to the work of a variety of mission groups. If you would like to get involved in supporting any of these groups please ask their representative - CMS: Ken Williams. BCA: Ron Campbell. YouthCare: Pauline Williams. Indian Inland Mission: John Podgorny and Jay Perera. Kokstad: Christina Lau. Bible Society: Barbara Ford.

All our income comes from us, the members.

The Church Council administers our offerings which are used for salaries, maintenance, contributions to Diocesan life and to missions. You can also give money specifically to a mission project.

We encourage people to plan their giving and to use either the envelopes, or direct bank transfer (more information available from Jay Perera or email Jay. You can see more information in the leaflet Sharing together in the Ministry of the Gospel..

Sharing the Ministry

There are many ministries we share as part of helping to build up the church, cleaning, maintenance, catering, flowers, counting money, keeping our Church and grounds so beautiful, or taking a formal role in Sunday Services such as reading, Intercession, assisting with Communion etc. There are plenty of ways to get involved and to share in the life of Christ the King. Please speak to Nicholas if you would like more information.

Rosters are prepared for many of these tasks by Daj, who would love to hear from anyone interested in assisting the Church in anyway (big or small).

Church Council
Current members of Church council:

Part of the Diocese of Perth
The Anglican Parish of Christ the King in Willetton and Canning Vale is part of the Anglican Diocese of Perth. The church's mission is to:

* proclaim the good news of the kingdom
* teach, baptise and nurture new believers
* respond to human need by loving service
* seek to transform unjust structures of society
* strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and to sustain and renew the life of the earth

Anglican beliefs are summarised in an ancient Christian profession of faith known as The Apostles Creed:

I believe in one God, the Father almighty
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
Her ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
And he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy catholic Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen
